A Scottish Wedding

A Scottish Wedding

January - the month of Hogmanay and Burns' Night! So, we've come up with inspirational ideas for a traditional wedding Scottish themed wedding.

For the Groom, it has to be the kilt! It's tradition for the Bride to buy her Groom his wedding shirt (known as a sark). In return, the Groom buys the wedding dress (sounds like a good idea)! Groomsmen wear the same tartan, or formal suits with tartan ties to match the Groom's kilt.
The famous tradition of a sixpence in your shoe began in Scotland. If you don't want to wear it in your shoe, add it to your bouquet.

For flowers, Scottish heather is perfect. It's good luck to add a sprig to your bouquet. Use just a touch or go the whole way with an informal bouquet tied with ribbon. It makes colourful table centrepieces too.

Carry the heather colours further by adding a ribbon to your wedding dress with bridesmaids wearing these beautiful colours too.

It wouldn't be a Scottish wedding without a piper accompanying the wedding party in the traditional wedding walk.

So, onto gifts for the Wedding Party, the choices are endless. Choose tartan themed hip flasks for the Groomsmen and offer guests tartan Pashminas for the cool Scottish night and yummy shortbread favours!
